Facing 24 counts, Evansville man found not guilty in child molesting case

A Vanderburgh Circuit Court jury found an Evansville man not guilty on 24 counts of child molesting Wednesday after deliberating for two hours.

Quincy J. Franklin, 31, originally had been charged with more than 140 counts including 60 filed a month after he had already been charged with 80 counts of the charge.

A Vanderburgh County jury returned a not guilty verdict in the trial of Trenton McCorkle, 23, after 25 minutes of deliberation, according to a release from McCorkle's attorneys Barry Blackard and Dennis Brinkmeyer.

”The jury reached the only possible verdict it could have reached," Blackard said in an e-mail to the Courier & Press. "This case was a tragedy and a disgrace from the very beginning. The University of Evansville rushed to judgment and somehow managed to bring the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office along for the ride.”
